I had a customer ask me for a full lace wig with detailed specifications in a very, very, very short amount of time. I worked day and night to make sure her specifications were met, I even hand delivered the wig to her. I was unpleasantly surprised with a phone call an hour later. This same client that I went that extra mile for was falsely accusing me of wrongdoing. I was so appalled and insulted ! She was hurling false accusations left and right.
It started with the length. She grossly exaggerated about it being shorter than what she asked for. I explained that she had to measure the strands from root to tip. I also asked her to send me a pic when she did. [side-note: you shouldn't compare lace wigs and weft hair, the length appearance of the wig hairs may seem shorter because unlike weft hairs, wig hairs are strategically placed throughout the cap, instead of in a straight line, this is done to mimic the flow of natural hair. Showing your lace wig to someone who wears tracks, wefts, sewins etc… would be futile, they just will not understand.] This person with her non lace wig wearing friend in tow, went and got a tape measure (mind you it was after midnight when all of this went on) She snapped a few pics with a hand blocking the numbers, then the tape measure wasn't at the base (smh), then finally after some instruction she got it right.
She sent me a pic thus proving my point. It was the length that I sad it was, as a matter of fact it was a little longer. I was right hah ! , I dismissed all her lying about the length and went to bed.
We went back and forth the next day about, caps, knots and bleaching.
[ side-note: I told her bleaching her own knots would not be a good idea, bleached knots eventually cause shedding and improperly bleached knots can be disastrous, adding a silk base would be a better choice but of course its more expensive and at the time she placed her order she didn't want to pay the extra money (i'll blog about bleaching knots etc.. later) ] We settled that, whew a day of peace. The next morning, I woke up to a total of 13 texts. I asked her to just bring me the wig, because I knew it would sell quickly. I offered to refund her money (which is something I hardly ever do) in exchange for her to NEVER, EVER, EVER calling, texting, emailing, speaking or mentioning my name again. Heck it was the day before the holiday and I was all out of stock wigs and I had an emergency client that was waiting to purchase that wig she had, but she declined.[huh???] I thought this chic was Coo Koo. Just when I felt we had it all worked out she text me again, this time with another FALSE accusation, the color. She specifically ordered a #1 jet black, which of course had to be dyed that color because that is the only way to obtain jet black hair. She tried to re-dye the jet black hair blonde. [what the ???] all she got was a faint brown color. After her failed attempts of trying to lift the color she determined the hair to be unreal & flooded me with texts, only to be schooled by me. In the middle of my day I had to give her a quick course in color 101 [via email]. The nerve of some of these half hair educated people. They read something online and feel that they know soooo much, but do not have a clue. All of this because she showed her purchase to her non lace wearing friend before applying it. This so called friend filled her head with all types of negative 2 cents, which in turn - made her lash out at me via text /emails in the wee hours of the night. Oh did I mention this so-called friend was also a hairstylist. Sadly we american lace wearers and vendors know that hairstylists can be our biggest haters. As a matter of fact there is something about FULL LACE WIGS that brings out the hateful, green, envious, negative energy in a lot of people.
After all the drama passed she continued to contact me regularly. Checking in here and there to see if I had anything in stock. I saw her a month or two later and she told me the wig that she made the big fuss about had turned out nice. She also said that she actually liked that hair most of all. She even purchased another wig that day. I thought to myself wow, she never mentioned that it turned out okay, she would just text and ask what I had in stock. Not saying anything else. hmmmm
She put sooooo much energy into accusing me of trying to get over on her, but when she realized that she- herself was WRONG I didn't hear a thing. Not a thank you, I apologize, the wig turned out nice, nothing. It amazes me at how some women will go on a whole campaign to paint a picture of you being a bad person but will not put an equal amount of energy into admitting they are wrong, or to even admit that you are a stand up person.
I go through great lengths to make sure the customer is well educated about a product and try to resolve problems and issues with amicable agreements. I just want to be respected and acknowledged for my efforts. I have even learned how to remain calm wooosaaaaahhh. I just wish people would stop letting these lace haters send them off. Until that day comes I will continue helping to make all women beautiful one head at a time : )
